Electronic Weighbridges

Pitless Weighbridge

A pit less electronic weighbridge (or surface-mounted truck scale) is built entirely above ground level. Instead of sitting inside an excavated hole, the heavy-duty weighing deck is mounted directly onto a flat concrete slab or raised foundation blocks. Vehicles access the scale using inclined concrete or steel approach ramps at both ends. Because the entire structure, including its digital load cells, sits completely exposed above ground, it eliminates structural waterlogging risks and offers effortless access for cleaning and routine maintenance.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Product Description

Core Advantages

  • Zero Waterlogging Risks: Because the scale remains completely above ground level, rainwater runs right off. This entirely eliminates the risk of flooded pits submersing and destroying expensive load cell networks or electrical cabling.
  • Massive Savings on Civil Works: You avoid complex, deep ground excavations, pit brick/retaining wall concrete formwork, and extensive under-ground structural waterproofing.
  • Simplified Maintenance: Technicians can visually inspect, clean, or swap out load cells right from the sides of the structure by simply walking around its perimeter. Mud and stones are easily washed out with a simple high-pressure water hose.
  • Structural Portability: For temporary project environments (like mining camps, major highway projects, or leased commercial lots), a bolted modular pit less deck can be disassembled, transported, re-anchored on a fresh slab, and re-calibrated.
  • No Closed-Space Hazards: Maintenance crews do not have to work inside a dark, confined subterranean trench where harmful gases can accumulate or pests nest.

Site & Foundation Layout Requirements

While a pit less design saves money on digging, it shifts constraints over to your ground acreage.

  • Total Length Overhead: A standard 18-meter truck scale platform requires an absolute minimum of 3 additional meters of concrete ramp space on both the entry and exit sides. A total linear footprint of 24 to 30 meters is typical just to house the equipment.
  • Strict Inline Approach: Trucks must drive completely straight onto the scale and straight off it. Vehicles cannot approach or exit at sharp angles or turn anywhere along the platform length.
  • Level Approach Zones: A level, smooth road section matching the height of the scale entry point must extend beyond the ramps to prevent skewed axle load distribution during a truck’s approach.
