Weighing Pads
Weighing Pads
Weighing pads (also known as portable axle scales or wheel load weighers) are ultra-low-profile, high-capacity portable platforms. Instead of driving a vehicle onto a massive, fixed steel deck, truck operators place two compact pads on a flat, level surface and drive individual truck axles over them.
The system instantly records individual wheel loads, calculates the total axle weight, and aggregates them into the vehicle's gross total weight. They are the go-to choice forlaw enforcement check-posts, mobile roadside survey teams, and space-constrained material handling sites where building a full weighbridge is impossible or cost-prohibitive.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Product Description
Core Structural Advantages
- Extreme Portability: Constructed out of aerospace-grade aluminum alloy, each pad typically weighs between 18 kg to 24 kg. A single operator can lift them by their built-in handles and store them in the trunk of a car or utility vehicle.
- Ultra-Low Profile: With a platform height ranging from only 20 mm to 60 mm, heavy commercial trucks and dumpers can easily drive up onto the pads without slipping or damaging the structure.
- Modular Multi-Pad Layouts: Depending on operational speed, they can be configured as a 2-pad system (weighing one axle at a time as the truck slowly creeps forward) or expanded into 4-pad, 6-pad, or 8-pad matrices to capture full multi-axle configurations instantly.
- Advanced Connectivity: Modern systems are available in wired formats (utilizing highly shielded heavy-duty polyurethane cables running to a handheld central terminal) or wireless variants (using secure radio frequency bands up to an 80-meter range). [1]
Key Limitations to Consider
- Not Trade-Approved for Commercial Invoicing: Because minor ground surface slants cause shifts in vehicle weight distribution, weighing pads are generally classified for internal weight auditing, load optimization, and law enforcement checks only—not for legal-for-trade billing by weight.
- Strict Ground Level Requirements: If the ground surface features more than a 5 mm variance, axle-load transfer will skew the weight readings. They must be set up on smooth, level, highly compacted surfaces like concrete slabs, asphalt roads, or heavy rubber leveling tracks.
